“Putting to Death the Old Sinful Nature”

 

 

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.  For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.  And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you.  Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires.  Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.  Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.  Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.--------Colossians 3:2-6,10

 

 

When a person genuinely gives their HEART and LIFE to Christ they TRULY are a NEW creation.  Old desires and habits SHOULD be a thing of the past and NOT things that they carry into their NEW LIFE.

 

The Apostle Paul tells us that, we as Children of the Living God, SHOULD think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth, because we have DIED to the old, sinful life and have risen to a NEW life in Christ Jesus, who is NOW our life. 

 

Therefore, you are to “put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you,” and have NOTHING to do with the sins of, sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, because greediness leads to idolatry, worshiping the things of this world. 

 

We are able to accomplish the putting to death the old sinful nature, with the help of God’s Holy Spirit, who indwells us.  We MUST SURRENDER to Him and be OBEDIENT to Him, when He carries out the death sentence of our OLD SINFUL nature so we are able to live a NEW life in Christ and be pleasing to our Heavenly Father.

 

Paul says that because of these sinful, earthly things lurking within us, that God’s anger is coming.  He goes on to say we have stripped off our old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds and NEED to put on our NEW nature and be renewed and learn to know our Creator and become like Him.  (vv9&10).  It is IMPOSSIBLE to live a sinless life, while we are in the flesh, there has been only ONE who has been able to accomplish that, Jesus Christ.  But with the help of God’s Spirit, in us, we can STRIVE to live for Him and strip ourselves of our sinful desires and habits through the renewing of our minds and the cleansing of our hearts.

 

If you have NEVER given your HEART and Life to Christ then you are at HIGH RISK of coming under the condemnation and wrath of God because of your UNREPENTED SINFUL NATURE.  You can bring yourself out of that HIGH RISK category by; CONFESSING your sins to God and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE, in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION and PUT TO DEATH YOUR SINFUL NATURE.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s waiting!!!
