"The Light"

“The Light”

 

 

“You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”          Matthew 5:14-16

 

These are the words spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples.  He was teaching them the precepts of being a TRUE BELIEVER, this is known as the ‘Sermon on the Mount.’  He was encouraging them to be a WITNESS to all who were living in DARKNESS, which is the DARKNESS of a LOST and DYING world.

 

He tells them they are to be the LIGHT of the world.  Because the world is shrouded in DARKNESS, and the LIGHT will dispel the DARKNESS.  The LIGHT of a TRUE BELIEVER, is the Holy Spirit of the Living God that indwells EVERY TRUE BELIEVER, and helps us to let the LOVE of God SHINE in us.

 

It is the Spirit of the Living God that equips us, and instructs us to do the GOOD DEEDS or works of our Heavenly Father, so when we let His LIGHT shine through us, it will illuminate those GOOD DEEDS and others will be able to see them and GLORIFY our Heavenly Father. 

 

The Pharisees, who were spiritual leaders, had a problem with their spiritual eyesight.  So Jesus told them:  “The eye is the lamp of the body.  If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be FULL of LIGHT.  But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness.  If then the LIGHT within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (6: 22, 23)  The Pharisees’ hearts made them slaves to greed and money.  They were FAILING in their service to God and letting their LIGHT grow dim, by hiding it, and not being OBEDIENT to their Master, God.  So the DARKNESS overcame the LIGHT, and they, themselves were living in DARKNESS.  Many may not have even possessed the LIGHT to begin with. 

 

Are you in the same situation?  Are you living in DARKNESS?   Or are you a TRUE BELIEVER, who is hiding your LIGHT and allowing the DARKNESS to creep in and overcome your LIGHT?  If you are a TRUE BELIEVER, you NEED to come to Jesus and CONFESS that thing that is causing you to hide your light, get rid of it, and TURN AWAY from it and bring your LIGHT out to dispel the DARKNESS, and let it SHINE for JESUS. 

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to GOD, then you don’t possess a LIGHT, but instead you are living in the DARKNESS, and will be condemned to an ETERNITY in Hell the place of ETERNAL DARKNESS, torture, torment, agony and pain with NO WAY out.  You can come into the LIGHT and possess your own LIGHT by coming to God NOW, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and let YOUR LIGHT shine before others that they might see your GOOD DEEDS and glorify your Heavenly Father.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
