“The Name”

 

“She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”          Matthew 1:21

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders.  And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.       Isaiah 9:6

Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.        Philippians 2:9, 10

 

Generally speaking, when parents are expecting a BLESSED BUNDLE of LOVE, wrapped up in flesh and blood, they start searching for the PERFECT NAME, one that they HOPE will reflect the character of their little person.   So it was with the birth of God’s Only Begotten Son.  When the angel came to Joseph with the GOOD NEWS that Mary would be the Mother of God’s Son, the angel also told Joseph that they should give Him the name, JESUS, which means “SAVIOR”, for He will SAVE His People from their sins.  And being OBEDIENT to God, both Mary and Joseph gave the name, JESUS, to Mary’s firstborn.

 

Long before the birth of God’s Son, the Prophet Isaiah, prophesied of this SPECIAL BIRTH and the SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES, which He would possess, given to Him by His Heavenly Father.  These are attributes that will describe His character and His reign during the Millennium period.  He will be CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, one who will give WISE and SOUND advice, and the people will TRUST in His judgment.  He will possess ALL the attributes of His Father, He will be God in the Flesh, and God the Son, and therefore He will be CALLED the MIGHTY GOD.  He will be the ORIGINATOR of ETERNAL LIFE, the word FATHER in Hebrew, means ORIGINATOR, and therefore He will be CALLED the EVERLASTING FATHER.  He, is the ONLY ONE who can bring TRUE, EVERLASTING PEACE to mankind, and therefore will be CALLED the PRINCE of PEACE.

 

Therefore God gave Him the NAME that is ABOVE EVERY NAME, and there is coming a time, when EVERY knee will bow, in Heaven and on earth and even under the earth, and EVERY tongue will CONFESS, “Jesus is LORD!”  Have you CONFESSED that Jesus is Lord?  Is He your SAVIOR?  Have you come to Him for the SALVATION of your soul?  If NOT you are headed for an ETERNITY in Hell, with ALL of its HORRORS, with NO way of ESCAPE, unless you TURN AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle, and TURN TO God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and CONFESS Him as your SAVIOR and LORD.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
