“A ‘Never Meant to Be’ Relationship”

 

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.  For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?  Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?  What harmony is there between Christ and Belial?  Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?  What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?  For we are the temple of the Living God.        2 Corinthians 6:14-16a

 

In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the TRUE BELIEVERS in Corinth, he gives them a WARNING of sorts, as how they should conduct themselves and with whom they should have relationships with.   He tells them that they should NOT be YOKED or to be put under the control or power of the UNBELIEVER.

 

It seems that the Church in Corinth was having some problems with FALSE TEACHERS and possibly IDOLATRY.  So Paul felt urged to enlighten the TRUE BELIEVERS concerning the ‘NEVER MEANT TO BE REALATIONSHIP’ between UNBELIVERS, or FALSE TEACHERS and themselves.

 

Paul does NOT say that the TRUE BELIEVERS were not to have any contact with an UNBELIEVER, that would be impossible, not to mention that we are to be SALT and LIGHT to a LOST and DYING world, in other words, we are to be a WITNESS, and in order to be a WITNESS, we must have SOME contact with UNBELIEVERS.  However, we are NOT to engage in ANY of their activities or condone ANY part of their UNGODLY BEHAVIOR. 

 

In order for Paul to get his point across, he used some examples of ‘NEVER MEANT TO BE RELATIONSHIPS,’ such as, RIGHTEOUSNESS with WICKEDNESS, there is NO place for RIGHTEOUSNESS to be in the company of WICKEDNESS, it would be like mixing oil with water.  They are SO opposites, and we get RIGHTEOUSNESS from Jesus Christ, and WICKEDNESS from Satan.  Paul goes on to say, “what FELLOWSHIP does LIGHT have with DARKNESS”, again, LIGHT and DARKNESS are opposites, and LIGHT comes through Jesus Christ and the DARKNESS comes through Satan.  Then Paul continues with the question, “What harmony is there between Christ and Belial, the devil?”  The answer is quite simple, Jesus is RIGHTEOUSNESS and LIGHT, and the Devil is WICKEDNESS and DARKNESS.  So what does a TRUE BELIEVER have in common with the UNBELIEVER?  It is a RELATIONSHIP, which is NEVER MEANT TO BE!!   Paul goes a step further, in order to dispel the acts of IDOLATRY.  He asks the question, “What agreement is there between the temple of God and Idols?”  The TRUE BELIEVER, is warned many times, throughout the Word of God, about participating in ANY form of IDOLATRY.  It is a ‘NEVER MEANT TO BE RELATIONSHIP,’ because the TRUE BELIEVER is the TEMPLE of the LIVING GOD, and it is where the SPIRIT of the LIVING GOD resides. 

 

This is VERY applicable for the TRUE BELIEVER today.  We are NOT to be YOKED in a ‘NEVER MEANT TO BE RELATIONSHIP’ with UNBELIEVERS.  It is NOT a part of God’s plan for His Children.

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are living in a ‘NEVER MEANT TO BE RELATIONSHIP,” which is controlling you, and is taking you down the path to a place of FOREVER torment, torture, pain, agony, heartache, and despair.  You are NOW given the opportunity to escape that ‘NEVER MEANT TO BE RELATIONSHIP and the destination that is attached to it, by coming to God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and break away from the ‘NEVER MEANT TO BE RELATIONSHIP,’ and begin a ‘MEANT TO BE RELATIONSHIP with JESUS CHRIST.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
