“The Cleanness of My Hands”

 

I have been blameless before Him and have kept myself from sin.  The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.             Psalm 18:23-24

 

This Psalm is a song that David penned concerning his DELIVERANCE from his enemies, which was brought about by the Lord God.   David proclaims his ADORATION and PRAISE for God, his ROCK, his SHIELD and the HORN of his SALVATION, his STRONGHOLD in times like these when his enemies overwhelm him with certain DEATH.   God heard David’s cry and DELIVERED him from the hands of his enemies.

 

We too, like David, face enemies, which sometimes are not enemies of flesh and blood, but SPIRITUAL enemies, that are threats to our souls.  Enemies, such as; sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry, hatred, discord, jealousy, rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, envy, and drunkenness and the like.  These are enemies that are detrimental to a person’s eternity.  They will lead you straight to the pit of Hell with ALL of its HORRORS, when you CHOOSE to fall into the traps of these SPIRITUAL ENEMIES.  And you REJECT God’s Hand of DELIVERANCE.

 

David KNEW that God could and would DELIVER him from the hands of his enemies.  So he cried out to God, and God HEARD and DELIVERED David from his enemies, before they could put their plan into effect.   Like David, the TRUE BELIEVER, when plagued by their SPIRITUAL ENEMIES, can call out to God and He will HEAR and DELIVER.  But only if, like David, they are BLAMELESS, and have kept themselves from sin.  God REWARDED David because of his RIGHTEOUSNESS or his RIGHT RELATIONSHIP with Him.  God BLESSED David according to the CLEANNESS of David’s HANDS in God’s sight.   In other words, David’s desire was to PLEASE, and to be OBEDIENT to God and His ways.  And he WORKED at keeping his life CLEAN from his SPIRITUAL ENEMY of SIN.  Thus he was able to be DELIVERED from his HUMAN enemies.

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, and you are LIVING in SIN, maybe, the sin of sexual immorality, impurity, jealousy, envy, etc., and allowing them to drag you into hell, with NO WAY of ESCAPE, God wants you to KNOW that YOU too can be DELIVERED from these SPIRITUAL ENEMIES and can ESCAPE HELL, if you will TURN AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle, and TURN TO God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to HIM and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that JESUS died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you before God.  Then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and be BLAMELESS in His sight, and be REWARDED according to the CLEANNESS of your HANDS.  Do this NOW, while you still can.
