“Living in the New Year!”
So I say,
walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in
step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:16, 25
We are
embarking upon a brand NEW year. Saying ‘good-bye’
to the OLD one and welcoming the NEW. It
is the tradition of many to make resolutions for a NEW BEGINNING, hoping that
the NEW YEAR will be BETTER than the OLD Year.
But, sad to say, not too many keep those resolutions, and life in the
NEW YEAR is not any better.
However,
there is a way to live each NEW day in the New Year and to, in the long run,
make life better for you. The Apostle
Paul, told this to the believers in Galatia.
He said if they ‘walk by the Spirit,’ they ‘will not gratify the desires
of the flesh.’ Gratifying the desires of
the flesh, most of the time brings; heartache, misery, and despair. The acts of the flesh, such as, idolatry,
hatred, discord, jealousy, selfish ambition, envy and the likes thereof, brings
about heartache, misery, and despair, and those who live, exemplifying those
acts of the flesh will NOT inherit the kingdom of God. In essence, they have NO HOPE!
But Paul
tells the Galatian Believers, that since they ‘live by the Spirit’, they should
‘keep in step with the Spirit’. And in
order to LIVE and KEEP IN STEP with the
Spirit, and to exemplify the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace,
forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, you
MUST have the Spirit abiding in
you. There is ONLY ONE WAY to have the
Spirit in you, and that is by coming to God; CONFESSING your sins to Him asking
Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for
YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then
ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and begin
a NEW YEAR, leaving the OLD year and your OLD sinful life behind, never again
to go BACK, but to press forward into a BRAND NEW YEAR and a BRAND NEW FUTURE that is filled with
FAITH, HOPE and LOVE. Do it NOW, while
you still can. He’s waiting and coming
SOON!!!
Have A SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
