“Common People Doing Uncommon Things!”

 

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the garbage pile.  He seats them with noblemen and gives them a throne of honor.  For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; He has set the world on them.  He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness, for a man does not prevail by his own strength.  Those who oppose the Lord will be shattered; He will thunder in the heavens against them.  The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.  He will give power to His king; He will lift up the horn of His anointed.                     1Samuel 2:8-10

 

This is an excerpt from “Hannah’s Prayer.”  She is rejoicing over God’s favor upon her and blessing her with the birth of her first child, a son, named Samuel.  He is the one that Hannah had prayed for, for so long and because of her FAITH and longsuffering, God granted her, her heart’s desire. 

 

These last few verses seem to have a prophetic flair, and it is the first Old Testament reference to an individual being an “Anointed One.”  However, in this context, I believe this is talking about an earthly king, King David, perhaps, who was anointed or “set apart” for the historical monarchy of Israel.  And also the lineage of the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. 

 

David, who was a lowly shepherd boy, became the ‘chosen one’ by God to lead Israel, throughout her victorious history, and would be the most popular king in her history.  He was known as the “man after God’s own heart.” 

 

Then through the Davidic lineage came a poor lowly carpenter, the One and Only Son of God, who died a shameful death and was buried in a borrowed tomb.  A man of meager surroundings, a man who associated and related with the downtrodden, the poor, the destitute.  And through the MERCY and GRACE of a LOVING HEAVENLY FATHER, He became the REDEMPTION of ALL MANKIND, throughout the ages.  He is and has ALWAYS BEEN the “Anointed One,”  “the Messiah,” the “Son of God,” the “King of kings,” and the “Lord of lords.”

 

God is the RIGHTEOUS JUDGE, and He has and will continue to bring judgment upon this sinful, wretched, old world.  And ALL His enemies will fall and be defeated and be judged and sentenced to an eternity in Hell.  And the King of Kings will descend from Heaven and reign SUPREME with all who have been REDEEMED and are FAITHFUL to Him.    Where do you stand with God?  Are you His enemy?  Or are you His child?  If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to Him, then you are considered His enemy, and will spend all eternity in Hell.  But you NOW have the opportunity to change your destination by:  CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your Heart that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE, in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and become His child and allow Him to do UNCOMMON things in your life.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
