“The AMAZEMENT of It All”

 

So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.         Luke 2:16

 

I believe that the night Jesus was born in Bethlehem, could have gone something like this:  In that same region there were some shepherds out in the fields, watching over their flock.  It was a quiet, cold, dark, but starry night, and some of those shepherds may have been sitting around a warm campfire, dozing, because of the long, hard day.  When all of a SUDDEN, their appeared, in their midst, an Angel of the Lord, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were TERRIFIED!  The Angel said to them, “Do NOT be afraid; I bring you GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY, which will be for ALL people.  Today in Bethlehem, there has been born for you a SAVIOR, who is CHRIST the LORD.  This will be a SIGN for you:  You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”   Then the sky exploded with a multitude of Heavenly Host, who were PRAISING God and saying, “GLORY to GOD in the HIGHEST, and on earth PEACE among men with whom He is pleased.”

 

The shepherds’ response was:  “Let us go STRAIGHT to BETHLEHEM then, and SEE this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they HURRIED and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger, just as the Angel had said.   What is AMAZING, is that they HURRIED to Jesus.  It appears that they BELIEVED ALL that the Angel told them.  Nowhere does the Scripture state that they ARGUED or DISAGREED with each other, over the incident or what the Angel had said.  Instead, the Scripture indicates to us that the shepherds were AMAZED, EXCITED, and ANXIOUS to see for themselves, exactly what the Angel was saying.  They RAN to JESUS!  Have you ever RUN to JESUS?  They FOUND the MESSIAH, the SAVIOR of ALL mankind.  Have you FOUND the SAVIOR?

 

The shepherd’s returned to their flocks, GLORIFYING and PRAISING GOD for ALL they had HEARD and SEEN.  They had BEEN WITH JESUS, and they BELIEVED what the Angel had told them.  That night in the sleepy, little town of Bethlehem, GOOD NEWS of GREAT JOY had come for ALL people, a SAVIOR, one who would DELIVER mankind from their sins and from an ETERNITY in Hell, with ALL its HORRORS and NO WAY of ESCAPE. 

 

You, like the shepherds, MUST BELIEVE that JESUS CHRIST is the MESSIAH, and the ONLY WAY to God.  You MUST TURN AWAY FROM YOUR sinful lifestyle, and TURN TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  You MUST CONFESS your sins to Him and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  You MUST BELIEVE, with ALL your HEART, that JESUS died for YOU, and is ALIVE in HEAVEN, making intercession for you, before God.  Then you MUST ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and like the shepherds, be AMAZED, EXCITED, AND ANXIOUS to be a Child of the LIVING GOD.  Do this NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
