“The Willing Servant”
“I am the
Lord’s servant,” said Mary; “may it happen to me as you have said.” And the Angel left her. Luke 1:38
Mary, a
young peasant girl, must have been very much alarmed at the sight of Gabriel,
the Angel of the Lord, as he stood in front of her, to deliver a message that
would definitely ROCK Mary’s world. Here
she was betrothed or engaged to a man named Joseph, a lowly carpenter, by
trade. And this Angel of God tells her
that she would become pregnant and give birth to a Son. Now, Mary was a godly young woman, who was
virtuous, pure, decent and modest in her behavior. I would imagine that the people in Nazareth,
thought highly of this gracious, young lady.
And now, she would become PREGNANT, NOT MARRIED, and had NEVER been with
a man. How would or could she EVER
explain the TRUTH?
Mary must have
been ANXIOUS, FRIGHTENED, and EXCITED all at the same time. She would have to explain her situation to
Joseph, and not ONLY that, she would be at risk of being stoned to death, which
was the form of punishment for this type of transgression. But Mary BELIEVED God would have a plan, and
she BLINDLY TRUSTED Him to carry it out to the end. That is why she could say: “I am the Lord’s servant, may it happen to me
as you have said.” She was WILLING to do
WHATEVER God’s plan was for her life.
The Angel, visited
Joseph too, and explained everything to him, concerning Mary’s pregnancy. He too was willing to do WHATEVER God’s plan
was for him and Mary. He, nor Mary, may
have UNDERSTOOD, but they TRUSTED GOD.
I can’t even
imagine the FEAR, ANXIETY, EXCRUCIATING ACHES, PAINS, and DISCOMFORT, Mary must
have experienced, while riding on a donkey and walking, some of the time, to
Bethlehem, where she would soon deliver the Son of God. Yet her FAITH was STEADFAST, and she
continued to TRUST her God, and His plan.
She BELIEVED and God PROVIDED.
Thus, the SAVIOR of the WORLD was BORN!
His mission was to bring SALVATION to a LOST and DYING world, and so He
did.
If you have
given your HEART and LIFE to God, my question is: Are you a WILLING SERVANT of God? Are you, like Mary and Joseph, WILLING to
TRUST GOD with your LIFE? If we TRUST
Him with our ETERNITY, we SHOULD be able to TRUST HIM with our LIFE. If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to
God, you are headed for an ETERNITY in HELL, with ALL its HORRORS, and NO WAY
of ESCAPE. However, if you will BELIEVE
and TRUST God with your LIFE here, He will PROVIDE an ETERNAL HOME for you, in
HEAVEN, with ALL its BLESSINGS. All you
have to do is: TURN AWAY FROM your
sinful lifestyle, and TURN TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART. Then CONFESS your sins to Him, and ask Him
for His FORGIVENESS. Then BELIEVE, with
ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in HEAVEN, making
intercession for you, before God. You
MUST ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and become a WILLING SERVANT, TRUSTING GOD
with your LIFE and ETERNITY. Do this
NOW, while you still can. He’s waiting
and coming SOON!!!
