A Legacy Worth Living For

I will declare wise sayings, I will speak mysteries from the past-----things we have heard and known that our fathers have passed down to us.  We must not hide them from their children, but must tell a future generation the praises of the Lord, His might and the wonderful works He has performed.  So that they might put their confidence in God and not forget God's works, but keep His commands.-----Psalm 78:2-4,7

As I read this portion of Scriptures, my mind took me back to a time when God was a huge part of the family unit.  A time when we taught our children about a loving, compassionate God that loves and cares SO very much about them that He gave His ONE and ONLY Son to die on a cross for their sins, providing a WAY for them to go to Heaven for all eternity, these teachings were not just done in Church, but carried out within the homes and conducted mostly by the dad.

Children were taught and encouraged to live godly lives by practicing high moral standards, those characteristics that would be pleasing to Holy God and would make them HONORABLE and TRUSTWORTHY adults in every aspect of their being.

Society had some problems to deal with, NOTHING like we have today.  There were NO shootings in schools, and VERY few if any in the workplaces.  In some places, the people could lay down at night and peacefully sleep with their doors unlocked.  Children could walk to school or ride their bikes to a friend's house without fear of being abducted by somebody with a sick, perverted mind.

I have said all of this to lead to these VERY IMPORTANT questions.  What are we teaching our children today?  What kind of example are we setting for them?  What kind of legacy are we leaving for them?  What kind of  ETERNITY are we preparing them for?

Are they being exposed to the LOVE of God and encouraged to live for the ONE who died for them? to be able to live HONORABLE and TRUSTWORTHY LIVES?

If you can't provide that type of environment, because you have NOT been exposed to it, you can be, by:  CONFESSING your sins to God and asking for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE, in HEAVEN, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He's waiting!!!
