“A Plea for a Suffering Nation!”

 

“When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among Your people Israel---being aware of their afflictions and pains, and spreading out their hands toward this temple---then hear from heaven, Your dwelling place.  Forgive, and deal with everyone according to all they do, since You know their hearts (for You alone know the human heart), so that  they will fear You and walk in obedience to You all the time they live in the land You gave our ancestors.          2Chronicles 6:28-31

 

These verses are a part of a prayer offered to Almighty God, by King Solomon, for his beloved nation of Israel.  I believe that this prayer could also be applicable for our beloved nation of America, today.  We are a nation that is experiencing difficulties, and if our nation doesn’t turn back to God, I believe that we will face harsher, more heartbreaking, problems, because of the sins of the land we hold dear to our hearts.  The first and most serious sin is the REJECTION of God’s Son and disobedience against the Almighty God.

 

We, like Solomon could pray for our Nation’s plight.  We have massive tornado outbreaks, earthquakes in places where they seldom, if ever, occur.  Beside the natural, yet sometimes uncommon disasters, we are faced with diseases, drugs, family problems, violence in our schools, economic problems, and the threat of our enemies attacking the innocent, defenseless people as they go about their everyday lives. 

 

In Solomon’s prayer for the nation of Israel, he acknowledges the fact that they NEED God’s intervention, as do we, if they are to survive as a nation.  He cries out to the Almighty, asking Him to HEAR from heaven, and to FORGIVE and deal with EVERYONE according to their actions, since God KNOWS the content of their hearts, because God ALONE truly KNOWS the human heart.  And prayerfully, the people will fear or RESPECT and live in OBEDIENCE to God ALL the TIME they live in the land that God gave to their ancestors.   This prayer is applicable to the NEEDS of our own Nation. 

 

We who are the TRUE BELIEVERS, should be on our faces before the Almighty God, SEEKING FORGIVENESS, MERCY and DIVINE INTERVENTION, DAILY for our GREAT nation.  Praying for the leadership and those in our military that risk their lives to defend what freedoms we still have.  But before we can come to God on behalf of our nation, we must come to Him on our own behalf, to make sure our HEARTS are clean and that we are RIGHT with Him.  If you have NOT come to Him for the SALVATION of your soul, He will not hear your prayers, until you pray for your OWN sins and shortcomings.  You must:  Come to Him with a TRULY REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and be RESPECTFUL and OBEDIENT to God, and become a part of the PRAYER WARRIORS, praying for our GREAT Nation.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
