“What to Wear!”

 

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.        Colossians 3:12-14

 

I struggle a lot with “what to wear,” mainly because I want to look presentable and as nice as possible, and to not give anyone the wrong idea about my character.   I detest it when women dress provocatively.  They may THINK that they are attractive, but it is cheap and tawdry, and gives the appearance that they are just that. 

 

We as TRUE BELIEVERS, must be very CAREFUL as to how we dress, both men and women should be cognizant of how they advertise themselves.  There was once a saying that was:  “Clothes makes the man!”  And in some ways, I guess, this could hold some validity.  And I believe that it could even be used as a good illustration for what the Apostle Paul was saying in these few verses.

 

As God’s Chosen People, who are HOLY and DEARLY LOVED, we should clothe ourselves with certain items of apparel, which are; COMPASSION, KINDNESS, HUMILITY, GENTLENESS, PATIENCE, FORGIVENESS, and LOVE.  When we are clothed in such apparel our appearance is changed and it is a GOOD STRONG indication as to WHO we are, and what message we are delivering. 

 

The item of clothing known as FORGIVENESS, indicates that we are WILLING to FORGIVE those, with whom, we have a grievance against.  We, having put on the item of FORGIVENESS, are exemplifying our OBEDIENCE to Father God and showing that we FORGIVE as He FORGAVE us.

 

Then when we are fully clothed with all the items of apparel of a TRUE BELIEVER, be sure you secure them all with the belt of LOVE, which binds together all the items of; COMPASSION, KINDNESS, HUMILITY, GENTLENESS, PATIENCE, and FORGIVENESS in PERFECT UNITY.  This completes your APPEARANCE and delivers your message concerning WHO you are. 

 

If you have not given your HEART and LIFE to God then you are clothed in the apparel that is designed by Satan.  And you are sending a very bad message that will lead you to spending an eternity in heartache, torment, torture, misery, agony and despair.  Unless you are willing to CHANGE your apparel, and put on the clothes of a CHOSEN CHILD  of the Almighty God, by:  CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION and let Him clothe you in COMPASSION, KINDNESS, HUMILITY, GENTLENESS, PATIENCE, FORGIVENESS, and LOVE, and to spend ALL of ETERNITY with Him in Heaven.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
