“ An Honorable or Dishonorable Vessel?”

 

Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver bowls, but also those of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.  So if anyone purifies himself from anything dishonorable, he will be a special instrument, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.        2 Timothy 2:20-21

 

This analogy, which the Apostle Paul gave to Timothy, his son in the ministry, of two different types of vessels, one HONORABLE, the other DISHONORABLE, was for the purpose of being USEFUL, and SET APART for God’s own purposes.  And it is a GOOD lesson for us today.

 

Let us look at the USEFULNESS of the DISHONORABLE vessel.  This vessel was made of wood or clay, and it was used mainly for garbage or disposal of filth. This of course, was CONTAMINATED, and could NOT be used for HONORABLE use.  And was destroyed when the filth was so imbedded in the wood or clay that there was no reason to allow it to remain in the household.  It, however COULD be CLEANSED thoroughly and PURGED from its FILTHY and CORRUPT condition, to a CLEAN, PURE VESSEL which was then remade into an HONORABLE vessel for the Master’s use.  After all, you wouldn’t offer Him a DIRTY, FILTHY, VESSEL, would you?

 

This lesson of the Apostle Paul, was to strongly urge Timothy to stay away from the FALSE TEACHERS, and those who practiced sin, on a regular basis, they were the DISHONORABLE VESSELS.  The lesson for people today is that, mankind comes into this world as a DISHONORABLE VESSEL, and until they come to JESUS CHRIST, the Son of the Living God, for the CLEANSING and PURGING of their sins, they will be a DISHONORABLE vessel, which is DESTINED to be DESTROYED, with an ETERNITY in HELL, with ALL its HORRORS, and NO WAY of ESCAPE. 

 

When we come to Christ and are transformed from a DISHONORABLE to an HONORABLE VESSEL, we are “SET APART” or “SANCTIFIED” for the Master’s use, the MASTER being the Lord God Almighty.  And will be a SPECIAL, USEFUL vessel in His household, Heaven, our ETERNAL HOME.  So which are you?  DISHONORABLE or HONORABLE?

 

If you have NOT come to JESUS for the CLEANSING of your HEART and SOUL, you are DISHONORABLE, and DESTINED to be DESTROYED, with HELL awaiting your arrival.  However, God wants you to become an HONORABLE VESSEL, to be SET APART for His GOOD use.  And to receive an ETERNITY in HEAVEN, with ALL its BLESSINGS.  In order for you to do that, you MUST be WILLING TO TURN AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle, and TURN TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART. You MUST CONFESS your SINS to Him, and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  Then BELIEVE, with ALL your HEART, that JESUS died for YOU, and that He is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God.  You MUST ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and become an HONORABLE VESSEL that is SET APART for His GOOD use, and receive an ETERNITY in HEAVEN.  So do this NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting, and coming SOON!!!
