“The Unique Relationship”

 

 

In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies.  He who loves his wife loves himself.  After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church---for we are members of His body.  “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”  This is a profound mystery---but I am talking about Christ and the church.      Ephesians 5:28-32

 

In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he gives them an example or model of the PROPER relationship between a husband and a wife.  He is indicating that the LOVE that a husband has for his wife should be modeled after the LOVE that Christ has for His Church. 

 

The RELATIONSHIPS are similar to each other, as the church is an extension of Christ, the wife is the extension of the husband.  If the husband TRULY LOVES his wife, then he LOVES himself, and takes care of his own body, feeding and caring for ALL of its needs.  And so it is with Christ and His Church.  He tends to the well-being and needs of His beloved Church. 

 

The PROFOUND MYSTERY of this RELATIONSHIP is that “the two will become one flesh.” Of course they are separate in body, but they are ONE in spirit, heart, and soul.   Paul reminds us that he is talking about the RELATIONSHIP between Christ and His Church.  When we ACCEPT Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, we become a part or member of His body.  His Spirit indwells us and we are part of Him and He is part of us.  He is the Head and we are the body. 

 

In Acts 4:32, it tells us that:  “All believers were one in heart and mind.”  In Romans 15:5-6, Paul says, “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the SAME attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with ONE MIND and ONE VOICE you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Even though we are separate in our earthly bodies, we can be ONE in our MIND, HEART and SOUL, because of God’s GREAT LOVE exemplified through the SACRIFICE of His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, the Lord Jesus Christ.  We who are TRUE BELIEVERS make up the ONE BODY of Christ, His Church.

 

What is your RELATIONSHIP with JESUS CHRIST are you a part of His Body?  If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are NOT a part of His Body, and you are gambling with your destiny.  You have a choice to become part of the Body of Jesus Christ and have a UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP with Him and have the HOPE of Heaven or you can spend ALL of ETERNITY in Hell, the place of torment, torture, heartache, agony, pain and despair.  If you choose JESUS, this is what you MUST do.  Come to God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and have that UNIQUE RELATIONSHIP with JESUS and become a part of His BODY.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
