"WARNING:  DO NOT QUENCH THE HOLY SPIRIT"

 

 

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.  Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you His Holy Spirit.

Do not quench the Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 4:7, 8, 5:19

 

In Paul’s letter, to the Thessalonian believers, he speaks to them about the importance of living a PROPER, CHRISTIAN LIFESTYLE.  In chapter four he speaks to them about NOT living an IMPURE life, but to live a HOLY life.   He states that it is the will of God that they should be SANCTIFIED or SET APART, and should not participate in ANY sexual impurity, that they should learn to control their own bodies in a HOLY and HONORABLE way. 

 

If a person, who has become a believer, rejects the instructions, which Paul stated in this letter to them, they are NOT rejecting a human being, but they are REJECTING God, the very God who has given them His Holy Spirit.

 

The work of the Holy Spirit is to EMPOWER the TRUE BELIEVER to live that SANCTIFIED life.  He gives them GUIDANCE and will bring CONVICTION into their HEART, whenever they stray away from the path that God has put them on.  He is their COUNSELOR, and will instruct them in the way they should go. 

 

The Apostle Paul EMPHATICALLY WARNS the TRUE BELIEVER:  “DO NOT QUENCH THE HOLY SPIRIT.  He does so because without the FULL WORKING  of the Holy Spirit, we can in NO WAY live the way God intends for us to live.  We are of the flesh and being of the flesh we live by the fleshly desires that are contrary to a HOLY lifestyle and to God’s intended will for our lives.

 

Therefore, we MUST be SENSITIVE, SUBMISSIVE, and OBEDIENT to the WORKING of the HOLY SPIRIT, and we MUST ALLOW Him to WORK in us so we are ABLE to live a SANCTIFIED life before God, and be able to live according to His will.  The Holy Spirit should have COMPLETE CONTROL over each aspect of the TRUE BELIEVER’S life.  We SHOULD NOT quench or hinder the work of the Holy Spirit.

Does the Holy Spirit have CONTROL of your life?  If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, the He does not even INDWELL you, much less CONTROL you.  You are CONTROLLED by Satan’s influences and are living by the flesh.  You are in DANGER of spending an eternity in HELL, the place of torment, torture, agony, pain, heartache and despair, without ANY relief or NO WAY of ESCAPE.  However, God is giving you an opportunity, NOW, to come to Him with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and RECEIVE His Holy Spirit, then ALLOW the Holy Spirit to WORK in you and DO NOT QUENCH THE HOLY SPIRIT.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!
