“Why Pray?”

 

 

During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, He offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission.         Hebrews 5:7

 

 

PRAYER is conversation with the Creator of the Universe, the One and Only TRUE, RIGHTEOUS, LIVING God, our Heavenly Father.  PRAYER is the LIFELINE of EVERY TRUE BELIEVER.  It is a very IMPORTANT part of our FELLOWSHIP with God.  It brings us into a CLOSER, MORE INTIMATE, RELATIONSHIP with Him. 

 

PRAYER was of the UTMOST importance to Jesus. Even though He was God in the flesh, He felt a NEED to converse with God the Father.  Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.  (Luke 6:12)    Jesus told His disciples a parable to show them that they should ALWAYS PRAY and not give up.  (Luke 18:1)

 

REMEMBER, though Psalm 66:18, the Psalmist says:  “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will NOT hear.”  In order for God to hear your prayers, you MUST first REPENT of your sins, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.   Some think that PRAYER is a “give me” list, well it isn’t that.  God is NOT Santa nor is He the Federal Government.  The PRAYERS of a TRUE BELIEVER should be one of REPENTANCE, THANKSGIVING, WORSHIP, PRAISE AND PETITIONS.  He will HEAR when we are OBEDIENT and SUBMISSIVE to Him. 

 

If Jesus, who is God in the flesh, thought that it was IMPORTANT to PRAY, then should we think any less about PRAYING?  He knew that God would be the ONLY ONE capable of saving Him from death, through the RESURRECTION.  Even though He died on the cross and was buried in a tomb.  He did not stay dead, but came back to LIFE and through His RESURRECTION, the TRUE BELIEVER has the PROMISE of LIFE ETERNAL in Heaven with the FATHER and the Son. 

 

We are ENCOURAGED to PRAY DAILY, the Apostle Paul, tells us to PRAY without ceasing, which means we should be in a constant attitude of PRAYER, READY and WILLING to talk with Father God at any given moment.  We are encouraged to PRAY for each other, which is known as INTERCESSORY PRAYER.  James 5:16 tells us that the PRAYER of a RIGHTEOUS person is POWERFUL and EFFECTIVE.  These are some of the reasons we NEED to PRAY DAILY.  And we NEED to PRAY with the RIGHT motives, if we expect God to answer our PRAYERS. 

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are NOT a TRUE BELIEVER , and your prayers are ineffective.  You MUST come to God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and become a TRUE BELIEVER, with an ACTIVE PRAYER life and a HEALTHY, HAPPY, INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP with FATHER GOD.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
