“Why Would God Do Such a Thing?”

 

 

“This temple will become a heap of rubble.  All who pass by will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’  People will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them---that is why He brought all this disaster on them.’ “          2Chronicles 7:21-22

 

King Solomon built a magnificent temple for the Lord God, and during the dedication of the temple, the glory of the Lord FILLED the temple, to the point that the priests could not enter the temple because the glory of the Lord FILLED it, which caused the Israelites to kneel on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “He is good; His love endures forever.”  Now that is one WORSHIP service I would dearly loved to have been to.

 

The Lord appeared to Solomon at night with a promise and a warning, the promise was that God heard Solomon’s prayer and had chosen the temple as a place for sacrifices.  “I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that My Name may be there forever.  My eyes and My heart will ALWAYS be there,” if Solomon and the people would be FAITHFUL, and observe and obey God’s decrees and laws.  If they strayed off and went to other gods and serve and worshipped them, then JUDGMENT would come.

 

The temple would become a heap of rubble and God would uproot the Nation of Israel from His beloved land.  Sometime afterward, Solomon and many of his successors, also worshiped other gods and did not observe or obey God’s decrees and laws, thus the Nation of Israel was exiled to Babylon, and the temple was destroyed.  (6:36, 36:19).  All who witnessed the desolation of the land and the destruction of the temple would know that it was God’s judgment on His people because of their disobedience.   This is WHY God did what He did.

 

Could this be a WARNING to our Nation?  We are, to some, considered a CHRISTIAN nation.  We worship the ONE, TRUE, and LIVING GOD.  Are we allowing the things of a SINFUL world to influence our worship? And are we altering God’s laws to fit in with wicked and unrighteous agendas for society?  We MUST be ALERT to what is taking place all around us, and humble ourselves before the Almighty God and pray and seek God’s face, and TURN from our wicked ways, so He might HEAR and FORGIVE our sins and HEAL our LAND.

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God then you are a part of the problem that is plaguing our land, and you are being deceived by the great deceiver, Satan, who is working hard to influence as many as he can to follow him straight to the very depths of Hell, the place of ETERNAL pain, heartache, torture, torment and despair.  However you NOW have the opportunity to change your direction and break FREE from Satan’s grip, and follow the One who died for you.  You do that by:  coming to God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and join the Family of TRUE BELIEVERS, who are a part of the SOLUTION and NOT the PROBLEM.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
