“A Prayer for Heart-trouble”
Set a guard
over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil
so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not
let me eat their delicacies. Psalm 141:3-4
This Psalm
is David’s evening prayer for his SANCTIFICATION and PROTECTION. He implores God to GUARD his MOUTH, and to
KEEP WATCH over his lips. David’s
enemies were slandering him and David was inclined to slander them, but he KNEW
it was the WRONG action to take. So he
calls upon God for HELP.
The problem
was really NOT a MOUTH problem, as much as it was a HEART problem. Whatever is in the HEART will eventually come
forth through the MOUTH. So David knew
this was the problem, and he was NOT hesitant to ask God to NOT let his HEART
be drawn to evil, so that he would NOT take part in WICKED DEEDS, along with the
evildoers. And to NOT let him eat their
delicacies, now this did not mean food.
But it meant that David did not want to profit in sensual desires
brought about by WICKED ACTIVITIES. So,
he asked God to HELP him do what he SHOULD DO, and not fall into the TEMPTATION
of doing what he SHOULD NOT DO.
David had
HEART-TROUBLE, just like we do. We too
are tempted, as was David, but when we are tempted do we PRAY as David
did? Do we realize that it is what is
in the HEART that comes out of the MOUTH?
When we are TESTED, like David was, with the problem of SLANDERING, do
we give in when someone SLANDERS us, and do we SLANDER them back? Or do we follow the actions of David and PRAY
for God’s HELP, for us to NOT fall into TEMPTATION? That is what we SHOULD DO. And more IMPORTANTLY, what God would want us
to do.
If you have
NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are suffering from MAJOR
HEART-TROUBLE, and you are practicing WICKED DEEDS that will eventually send
you to an eternity in HELL with ALL of its HORRORS, and with NO WAY of
ESCAPE. In order to ESCAPE HELL, you
must TURN AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle and TURN TO God with a TRUE REPENTANT
HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS,
BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in
Heaven, making intercession for you, before God then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION,
and like David, be able to PRAY for your HEART-TROUBLE, and for God’s PROTECTION. Do it NOW, while you still can. He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
