 “Our Hope, His Unfailing Love”

 

 

We put our hope in the LORD.  He is our help and our shield.  In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His Holy Name.  Let Your Unfailing Love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in You alone.  Psalm 33:20-22

 

This Psalm was most likely written by King David.  It is a song, a hymn of PRAISE.   It describes God’s UNFAILING LOVE for those who belong to Him, and they are called to PRAISE Him, because His WORD is DEPENDABLE, and His WORK is RIGHTEOUS and HOLY.  More than likely, this Psalm may have been penned because of a national victory.  We really don’t know which VICTORY it might have been. 

 

We are given the REASON for this hymn of praise, which is, that the ALMIGHTY GOD, CREATOR of ALL THINGS, that has been CREATED, is, OUR HOPE, OUR HELP and OUR SHIELD.  And in Him our HEARTS REJOICE, because His WORD is DEPENDABLE, and His WORK is RIGHTEOUS.  Therefore, we can TRUST in His Holy Name.  And that is SOMETHING we can SING ABOUT!!  

 

The Psalmist is earnestly asking our FATHER, GOD, to SURROUND US, those who belong to Him, with His UNFAILING LOVE, because our HOPE is in HIM ALONE.  We DEPEND on His UNFAILING LOVE, His DEPENDABLE WORD and His RIGHTEOUS WORK.  

 

In this world we cannot DEPEND on other PEOPLE’S WORD or in the WORK they do, because it is NOT of a RIGHTEOUS nature.  Only in GOD ALONE can we put OUR HOPE, and DEPEND on His HELP, and MORE than ANYTHING, HIS UNFAILING LOVE.  Have YOU experienced that UNFAILING LOVE?  And WHERE are you PLACING your HOPE and TRUST?

 

If you are putting your HOPE and TRUST in OTHER PEOPLE, you really don’t have MUCH to SING ABOUT. Because they are JUST LIKE YOU!  They too were BORN with a SINFUL NATURE, and because of that, they at some point and TIME, will be UNDEPENDABLE, and NOT TRUSTWORTHY.  Their LOVE is NOT LIKE GOD’S UNFAILING LOVE.  So, it useless, to put your HOPE in MANKIND.  

 

But you NOW have the OPPORTUNITY to be able to PUT your HOPE and TRUST in the ALMIGHTY GOD’S UNFAILING LOVE.  This is what you MUST DO, if you have NOT GIVEN your HEART and LIFE to GOD.  FIRST, you MUST ADMIT that YOU are a SINNER, in NEED of the SAVIOR, the LORD JESUS CHRIST, who is the ONLY SON of GOD, and who Gave HIS LIFE to SAVE your SINFUL SOUL.  You MUST BELIEVE, with ALL your HEART that JESUS DIED for YOU, and that He is ALIVE in HEAVEN, making intercession for you, before God.  You MUST CONFESS your SINS to HIM and ASK Him for His FORGIVENESS.  You MUST BE WILLING to TURN AWAY FROM your SINFUL LIFESTYLE, and TURN TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  You MUST ACCEPT God’s Gift of SALVATION and put YOUR HOPE in HIS UNFAILING LOVE.  Do this NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s WAITING and COMING SOON!!! Don’t be LEFT BEHIND!!!
