The Promise of the Holy Spirit

...If you love me, you will do as I command.  Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help your and always be with you.  The Spirit will show you what is true.  The People of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don't see or know Him.  But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.------John 14:15-17

These are the words of Jesus, to His disciples (followers), and if you have given your heart and life to Him, you too are a disciple or follower of Him, and thus this message is applicable to YOU as well as it was to them.

The PROMISE of the BLESSED HOLY SPIRIT.  Jesus wanted His disciples to KNOW that they would NOT be left ALONE when He left them, but He would send them a COUNSELOR, COMPANION and GUIDE. Someone to HELP them make it without Him.  Someone that would ALWAYS be with them and would reveal the TRUTH to them.  Someone that would LEAD and GUIDE them through life and NEVER leave them nor forsake them.

He told them that the people of this world would NOT accept the SPIRIT or the workings of the Spirit, because they don't SEE or KNOW Him.

But the disciples KNOW the Spirit because He indwells them and will CONTINUE to INDWELL them.

At the very beginning of this verse Jesus tells His disciples that IF they LOVE Him, they will DO as He COMMANDS.  This is a PREREQUISITE for the INDWELLING of His HOLY SPIRIT.

If you have NEVER given your HEART and LIFE to Jesus, you CANNOT receive His Holy Spirit, until you do.  And the WAY to do that is by:  CONFESSING your sins to God and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE, in Heaven, making intercession for you before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He's waiting!!!
