Growing to be Christ-like

 

 

Then we will no longer be immature like children.  We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching.  We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.  Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of His body, the church.--------Ephesians 4:14-15

 

In the Apostle Paul’s letter to the believers in Ephesus,  Paul is telling them that Christ gave certain gifts to the church, of which are the gifts of; pastors and teachers and he goes on to say that their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.  And that this will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the FULL and COMPLETE standard of Christ.

 

As Children of God, we NEED to GROW in our FAITH and not be content with having an IMMATURE FAITH.  We GROW by being taught the WORD of God and then to be equipped to do the WORK of God.  That is the MAIN work of the PASTORS/ TEACHERS, they are to equip the Saints to do the WORK of the Ministry.  In other words, God has placed in our churches Godly men, who are GIFTED and ANOINTED to train up the SAINTS of God for the WORK of the ministry.  Too many times the IMMATURE SAINTS want to tell the Man of God, the pastor what he should do or not do, they balk at being LED, TAUGHT or EQUIPPED.  This usually happens when the Pastor tries to lead them to do something that THEY don’t want to do, like a spoiled CHILD they throw temper tantrums and cause problems for the Man of God, and the MINISTRY, the WORK of God, suffers because the immature don’t want to be taught the WORD of God.

 

When this happens the immature are at RISK of being TOSSED and BLOWN about by EVERY wind of new teaching.  They will be INFLUENCED by people who will trick them with lies so clever that they sound like the TRUTH, and those who have balked at being taught the WORD of God, so they can be EQUIPPED to do the WORK of God, ends up following false teachings, and refusing to be LED, TAUGHT, and EQUIPPED to do the WORK of God, by following the TRUTH of the WORD of God.  And they are like a spoiled, stubborn, child, who is HAPPY to remain immature and not grow to be Christ-like, but end up being immature and unproductive in their Christian life.   

 

We, as God’s Children, need to TRUST in the LORD and LOVE Him enough to DESIRE the MEAT of the WORD and not remain in the MILK of the WORD.  We NEED to follow the leadership of the Pastor that God has put in our lives to LEAD, TEACH and EQUIP us to do God’s Work.

 

If you have NEVER given your life to the Lord, then you are NOT His Child, you are His creation, but not His Child and you can NOT be CHRIST-LIKE in your life.  And you will miss out on an eternity in Heaven, but you can make a BIG CHANGE in your life NOW, by:  CONFESSING your sins to God and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE, in Heaven, making intercession for you before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s waiting!!!
