Lying Lips

 

 

Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.  The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in those who tell the truth.--------Proverbs 12:19,22

 

The art of being able to tell lies seems to be a popular past time in today’s world.  It is getting harder and harder to find a GENUINELY, truthful person.  I believe the most accommodating place to hear an abundance of ‘lying lips’ is in our very own government, now I can’t speak about other governments of this world, but I can without reservation, say that the majority of our elected officials have and are still practicing the art of telling lies.

 

I sometimes believe that some are so good using their ‘lying lips’ that they actually believe what they are saying. But we can attribute their ‘lying lips’ to the fact that they are politicians and will say anything to get the votes, whether it is true or not.

 

Let’s look at families, some of our families are pretty proficient in the art of ‘lying lips.’  The parents tell lies to each other fairly easily, to cover-up their indiscretions.  The children lie to each other and to their parents, with some doing it on a regular basis and they do it for a number of different reasons.  Some will use their ‘lying lips’ to try and stay out of trouble and then there are those who will use their ‘lying lips’ to get their way. Usually it’s the parents that pass on the art of telling lies. It is really funny, yet sad, but the parents will undoubtedly ask the question:  “Where did they pick up telling lies?”  If the parents would stop and think about all the times they have had a bout with ‘lying lips,’ they would have their answer. 

 

I think that we all have had bouts with ‘lying lips’ from time to time, for whatever reason.  But the really sad part of the ‘lying lips’ syndrome is that it can become a really bad habit.  A habit that can cause a myriad of problems that have horrendous consequences, and destroys people, their livelihood, and label them as: Liars, untrustworthy, unfaithful, selfish, untruthful, etc.  It can and will destroy anything or anyone you hold near and dear to your heart.

 

The one who is most accomplished in the art of ‘lying lips’ is none other than Satan, himself, he is the great deceiver and is so capable of deceiving the strongest Christian.  That is why we need to be ALERT and be clad in the full armor of Almighty God.  So that we can be protected from Satan’s deceptions.

 

These verses plainly tell us that truth will stand the test of time and be victorious over ‘lying lips.’ They warn us about telling lies, they are soon exposed for what they are.  In verse twenty-two, we are told that The Lord detests ‘lying lips,’ in other words, He HATES ‘lying lips,’ and as a Child of the Living God, we should be vigilant about our relationship with Him and do ALL that we can to please Him.  The verse goes on to say:  “but He delights in those who tell the truth.”  We, who are His Children need to do all we can to keep our lips from becoming the ‘lying lips’ that He detests.

 

If you are not His Child, because you have never truly given your HEART and LIFE to Jesus, then you are living a lie and may be pretty proficient with the ‘lying lips.’  If this is the situation you live in, you can CHANGE your lifestyle by:  CONFESSING your sins to God and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE, in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of Salvation and work hard at getting rid of the ‘lying lips,’ and start practicing telling the TRUTH. Do it NOW, while you STILL can. He’s waiting
