Be Fruitful!

 

 

“Remain in Me, and I will remain in you.  For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in Me.”

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches.  Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit.  For apart from Me you can do nothing.”--------John 15:4-5

 

 

These words were part of the message Jesus delivered to His disciples, prior to His crucifixion.  His instructions to them concerning their ministry.  He uses the example of a grapevine that produces fruit and what happens to the parts of that grapevine that doesn’t produce the fruit. 

 

Jesus tells His disciples:  “Remain in Me and I will remain in you.”  He tells them that a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine.  Jesus is the vine and we are the branches, as were the disciples. He tells them that they cannot be fruitful unless they remain in Him.

 

He says that He is the vine and they are the branches and if they remain in Him, He will remain in them and they will produce much fruit.  So it is with the TRUE Christians today, if we allow the Holy Spirit of God to work in us, by YIELDING to Him and TRUSTING Him then we will produce much fruit.  We will be a light in the darkness and may be the ONLY lifeline to reach a lost soul that is adrift in the sea of sin, destined to be swept into Hell and into an eternity  of hopelessness and despair, with no way of escape.

 

Jesus continues to tell them that apart from Him they can do nothing.  It was Jesus’ intent that the disciples be sent out to a lost and dying world, a world that would destroy them, if they took matters into their own hands.  He wanted them to KNOW and BELIEVE that they could NOT do ANYTHING ON their own, but IF they would remain in Him, they COULD do ANYTHING the Father wanted them to do, not under their own means, but by the work of the Holy Spirit, who would be taking up residence in them.

 

So the message to God’s Children today, is that we NEED to allow the Holy Spirit of the Living God to work in us, in order, to produce much fruit and to make a difference to a lost and doomed world, to be a LIGHT in the darkness in order to illuminate the pathway to SALVATION.

 

If you have NEVER given your HEART to Jesus, then you are groping in the darkness and adrift on the sea of sin, destined to be swept away to that place called Hell, a place of hopelessness and despair for ALL of eternity, but you have the opportunity to change your course and take the path that is illuminated, the pathway to SALVATION, you do that by:  CONFESSING your sins to God and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for you and is ALIVE, in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s waiting!!!  Remember He DIED for YOU so you could LIVE for Him.
