“Keeping Your Promises!”
When you
make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no
pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises
you make to Him. It is better to say
nothing than to make a promise and not keep it. Ecclesiastes 5:4-5
People of
today, make promises, to others all the time, and MANY of those promises are
not kept, which gives the indication that the one making the promise is NOT
trustworthy, or they aren’t a person of their word.
Many years
ago, people would do business by making promises, they would promise to do a
job or make a payment for a job by sealing the deal with a handshake, and that
was their promise to see it through.
People back then were much more trustworthy and PROMISE-KEEPERS, than
they are today. This old wretched and
corrupt world is much different today. People are only out for themselves and what
the situation might offer them in return.
Then some will make a deal to pay for something and then go back on
their word and break their promise to pay.
Some will promise to do a good deed for someone in need, and then they
have a change of heart, and don’t follow through on their promise. Times have truly changed, and so have the
people.
But one
thing has NOT changed, and that is GOD, He’s the same yesterday, today, and
forever. One of the things that God does
NOT like, the Scripture says, is: “God takes no pleasure in fools.” In God’s eyes when you make a promise to Him,
and you don’t carry through, it makes you a fool. If you read verse six: It says if you don’t keep your promise to God,
‘it makes Him angry, and He might wipe out everything you have achieved.’
Our God is
an AWESOME, POWERFUL God and He is a HOLY RIGHTEOUS God, who will NOT tolerate
being lied to. So be CAREFUL, when you
promise Him something, make SURE you can KEEP YOUR PROMISE. And don’t delay in following through with it.
Our God is a
PROMISE-KEEPER, whenever He makes a promise to us, we can be ASSURED He will
keep it. His Word says: “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the
hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to KEEP His promise.” (Hebrews 10:23)
One promise
that He has made to His Children is that Jesus is coming again to take us, the
TRUE believers, home to Heaven to live with Him throughout eternity. That is a promise that we, TRUE believers,
are looking forward to being fulfilled, and it WILL BE consummated SOON.
Are you
READY? In order to be ready, there are a
few things that you must do. (1) CONFESS
your sins to God and (2) ask Him for His FORGIVENESS, (3) BELIEVING, with ALL
your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is alive in Heaven making intercession
for you, before God, (4) then ACCEPT God’s gift of SALVATION and (5) KEEP your promises to Him. Do it NOW, while you still can. He’s waiting
and coming SOON!!
