“Co-heirs with Christ”

 

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s Children.  Now if we are Children, then we are heirs---heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory. 

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.         Romans 8:16-18

 

The TRUE BELIEVER is an “adopted” Child of God and as a Child of God, they become HEIRS of God, not only HEIRS of God, but they are CO-HEIRS with Christ.  And so when a person comes to God seeking SALVATION, and they are TRULY REPENTANT of their sins, then they RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE in HEAVEN, and will share in ALL the glories of Heaven, with their CO-HEIR, the Lord Jesus Christ.  And the Spirit of God, who then indwells them, will testify with their spirit that they are TRULY God’s Children.

 

However, the “adopted” Child of God will also share in Christ’s SUFFERINGS, in order to share in His glory.  We MUST be willing to carry our crosses, we MUST be willing to SUFFER, as Christ SUFFERED.  We may NEVER be beaten to near death, like He was, nor be put to death, by crucifixion, one of the cruelest forms of execution ever carried out.  But we MUST be WILLING to SUFFER, whether it be physical, emotional, or spiritual. 

 

Being a TRUE CHILD of God will bring some form of PERSECUTION, if you are TRUE and STEADFAST in your FAITH.  Jesus said, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.  If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.  As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.  That is why the world hates you.”  (John15:18,19)   So you will SUFFER, because of your relationship with Christ Jesus.

 

But the Apostle Paul tells us that he considers our PRESENT SUFFERINGS are NOT worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  In other words our PRESENT SUFFERINGS pales in comparison to our FUTURE GLORY that awaits us.  It is so GREAT, and so AWESOME that our SUFFERINGS become insignificant in that comparison.  Keep in mind that our SUFFERINGS are TEMPORARY, but the FUTURE GLORY and RICHES of Heaven are ETERNAL.  Are you WILLING to SUFFER for the cause of CHRIST?

 

Those who have NOT given their HEART and LIFE to God, will SUFFER, anyway, and it will NOT be pleasant, nor will it be temporary.  They will end up spending an ETERNITY in Hell, the place of UNENDING torment, torture, heartache, pain, agony, and despair, with NO WAY of ESCAPE.  But God has a plan, you MUST come to Him with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and receive your ADOPTION into God’s family, and your blessing of being a CO-HEIR with Jesus Christ to ALL the RICHES of Heaven for ALL of ETERNITY.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
