“Pure and Undefiled Religion”

 

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.  Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.        James 1:26-27

 

These verses of Scripture, instructs us as to what is TRUE, PURE, UNDEFILED RELIGION is and what it is not.  James starts off with what it is NOT.  He tells us that a person who believes he is religious and does NOT bridle his tongue, in other words, does not CONTROL his speech, his religion is WORTHLESS.  Now James also tells us in 3:6, that “the tongue is a FIRE, a world of UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.  The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.”   Now you know why it is SO IMPORTANT for a person to have a TIGHT rein on their tongue. 

 

If they do NOT have a TIGHT rein on their tongue, then they DECEIVE their own heart, and their religion is WORTHLESS.   With the tongue a person can HURT, INCAPCITATE, and COMPLETELY DESTROY another person’s faith, and their will to serve God the way God desires.

 

Isaiah 1:15-17 says:  “When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.  Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.”  God does NOT want a lot of WORTHLESS rituals and FAKE worship.  He desires a CLEAN and CONTRITE HEART, a RIGHTEOUS SOUL, whose RELIGION is PURE, and UNDEFILED by the UNRIGHTEOUSNESS of one’s HEART, but one who is WILLING to put their RELIGION to work by SERVING others, and NOT GRUMBLING and COMPLAINING about having to SERVE.  FAITH without WORKS, is DEAD. (2:17)

 

How is your RELIGION?  PURE and UNDEFILED?  Or are you trying to worship the HOLY, RIGHTEOUS GOD with an UNRIGHTEOUS, SIN-STAINED, HALF-HEARTED, ritual of a WORTHLESS RELIGION.  Well, now is the time to STOP deceiving yourself and BEGIN a religion that is WHOLE HEARTED, PURE and UNDEFILED, by putting your FAITH to work for God.

You may even be LOST and without any religion at all.  If you have NOT TRULY given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are facing an ETERNITY in HELL, the place of UNENDING torment, torture, pain, heartache, and despair.  Unless you come to Him with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of Salvation, and WORSHIP Him with a CLEAN and CONTRITE HEART, SERVING Him with a RELIGION that is PURE and UNDEFILED.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
