“Our Refuge”

 

O my people, trust in Him at all times.  Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our Refuge.  Psalm 62:8

 

Whenever you are having troubled times and are facing more extreme times, who do you go to for HELP?  Maybe, your PARENTS, an AUNT or UNCLE, a BROTHER or SISTER, or a close friend?  Well, David gives us some EXCELLENT ADVICE: “TRUST in GOD at ALL TIMES!!  Then he tells us to POUR OUT our HEART to HIM, because He IS our REFUGE.”

A REFUGE is a SHELTER, PROTECTION, OR SAFETY from our enemies. From those who want to MAR or DESTROY our CHRISTIAN WITNESS, or to bring DISGRACE to us, by trying to TRASH our CHRISTIAN IMAGE before others.  So, David says we are to TRUST in GOD at ALL times. 

In other words, when we are being ridiculed for our CHRISTIAN WALK, we SHOULD take the problem to GOD FIRST.  And we should then POUR OUT our HEART to Him.  Like David, we SHOULD TRUST Him at ALL TIMES, because He is our ONLY HOPE for DELIVERANCE. And He wants to be our SOURCE of SAFETY, our ROCK and our SALVATION. 

There will be times when God will NOT just make it ALL go AWAY.  But He PROMISES us that HE will NEVER LEAVE nor FORSAKE us.    He WILL see us THROUGH to the end.  And will offer His GUIDANCE and PROTECTION when needed.  And this is BECAUSE He is our ROCK and our REFUGE. 

David says, “Let ALL that I am WAIT QUIETLY before GOD, for my HOPE is in Him.  He ALONE is my ROCK and my SALVATION, my FORTRESS, where I WILL NEVER BE SHAKEN. My VICTORY and HONOR come from GOD ALONE.”  Is this the type of RELATIONSHIP you have with GOD?  If not, it SHOULD BE!  He will NOT intervene unless you COME to HIM and ASK for His HELP.

The FIRST thing that you MUST DO, in order to have God be your REFUGE and ROCK, is to ADMIT that YOU are a SINNER in NEED of the SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, GOD’S ONLY SON, who gave His Life to SAVE our SOUL from an ETERNITY in HELL with ALL its HORRORS and NO WAY to ESCAPE once you are there.  You MUST BELIEVE with ALL your HEART that JESUS DIED for YOU, and that He is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you before God.  You MUST CONFESS your SINS to Him and ASK Him for His FORGIVENESS.  You MUST be WILLING to TURN AWAY FROM your SINFUL LIFESTYLE and TURN TO GOD with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  You MUST ACCEPT God’s Gift of SALVATION and TRUST in HIM at ALL TIMES because He is YOUR ONLY HOPE.  Let Him be YOUR REFUGE in TROUBLED TIMES.  Do this NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s WAITING and COMING SOON!!!  Don’t Be LEFT BEHIND!!!
