 “The Storms”

 

“Anyone who listens to My teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a home on solid rock.  Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.  But anyone who hears My teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand.  When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”   Matthew 7: 24-27

 

These Scriptures, (24-27) are the LAST of the FOUR WARNINGS that Jesus told those who were listening to His Sermon on the Mount of Olives.  And they deal with OBEDIENCE. He tells them that ANYONE who LISTENS and OBEYS His TEACHING and FOLLOWS it, they are WISE. 

The example was: “Anybody who BUILDS a home on SOLID ROCK is WISE to do so.  Because through the RAINS that come in TORRENTS and the FLOODWATERS rise and the WINDS BEAT AGAINST the house, it WON’T COLLAPSE because it is built on BEDROCK.

The house represents a PERSON who has HEARD Jesus’ WORDS, and the ROCK represents JESUS and His WORDS.  So, the PERSON who HEARS and OBEYS the WORDS of JESUS is WISE. And when the STORMS of this LIFE come, and they WILL. The WISE PERSON will SURVIVE and be SAFE, because of his SOLID ROCK FOUNDATION, the TEACHINGS of JESUS CHRIST. 

However, the PERSON who has HEARD Jesus’ WORDS, and REFUSES to OBEY them is FOOLISH. They are like the HOUSE that is BUILT on the SAND.  Because when those RAINS come in TORRENTS and the FLOODWATERS rise and the WINDS BEAT AGAINST the house, it WILL COLLAPSE because its FOUNDATION is SAND. And it will NOT SURVIVE, nor will it be SAFE.  What is YOUR FOUNDATION BUILT ON?

Now, the STORMS of this LIFE might be, FINANCIAL, MEDICAL, MARITAL, EMPLOYMENT, FOOD, HOUSING etc.  How are you handling these STORMS?  Are you OBEDIENT to the WORDS of JESUS CHRIST, or are you REBELLING against His TEACHINGS, and BEING DISOBEDIENT? 

If you want STABILITY in your life and be able to make it through the STORMS of LIFE, you NEED the STRONG FOUNDATION of the WORD of GOD.  You NEED to READ and STUDY it. Then APPLY it to your life.  If NOT, you WILL COLLAPSE with a CRASH.  So, this is what you MUST DO to have that STRONG FOUNDATION.

You MUST ADMIT that YOU are a SINNER in NEED of the SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, who GAVE His LIFE to SAVE your SOUL. You MUST BELIEVE with ALL your HEART, that JESUS died to save your SOUL from an ETERNITY in HELL, with ALL its HORRORS, and NO WAY to ESCAPE once you are there.  You MUST CONFESS your SINS to Him and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  You MUST be WILLING to TURN AWAY FROM your SINFUL LIFESTYLE and TURN TO GOD with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  You MUST ACCEPT God’s Gift of SALVATION and be READY to FACE the STORM.  Do this NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s WAITING and COMING SOON!!!   Don’t Be LEFT BEHIND!!!
