“The Fallacies of Unbelief!”

 

Now Thomas (also known as Didymus). One of the twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.  So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”  But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”        John 20:24-25

 

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”         John 20:29

 

I believe that the disciples had a problem with their belief system.  I believe that is why, when Jesus appeared to them, for the first time, after His resurrection, He showed them His hands and side.  The disciples that were there were overjoyed when they SAW, they believed that it was their Lord.  But there was one who was not there, Thomas was not present at this time.  When Thomas returned to where the other disciples were, they told him, “We have seen the Lord!”  And Thomas’ reaction to this was; “Unless I SEE the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into His side, I will NOT believe.”

 

That is the attitude and mind-set of many unbelievers, today.  If they can’t SEE, or TOUCH, it they will NOT believe that it exist, and that is a fallacy of unbelief.  Because you cannot SEE or TOUCH it, then it must not exist.  Well, you can’t see the air you breathe, you only see the effects of the air, but you BELIEVE that it exists.   All one needs to do is to sit up and take notice of ALL that is around them, even their own human body is evidence enough to KNOW and BELIEVE that there is a GOD, a Divine Designer, who created EVERYTHING, and loves His creation, and has provided a way for the Crown of His Creation, mankind, to be able to spend ALL eternity with Him, in Heaven.  But mankind MUST come to Him, BELIEVING in their HEART that He REALLY DOES exist. 

 

It was about a week after the first appearing that Jesus appeared a second time to the disciples. That was when Thomas believed, because Jesus told him; “Put your finger here; SEE my hands.  Reach out your hand and put it into my side.  STOP doubting and BELIEVE.”  Then Jesus gave a SPECIAL BLESSING:  “Blessed are those who have NOT seen and yet BELIEVE.”

 

Many will miss spending an ETERNITY in Heaven, because of the same mind-set of Thomas, “Unless I SEE and TOUCH, I will NOT BELIEVE.”   If you are an unbeliever, and have that mind-set, then you are headed for an ETERNITY in Hell, where you will be in misery, pain, heartache and despair with NO escape.  God is giving YOU the opportunity to become a BELIEVER and to be able to spend ALL eternity with Him in Heaven.  You do that by:  CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and become a BELIEVER with the HOPE of Heaven.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
