“Dying to Sin and Living for Righteousness”

 

“He Himself bore our sins” in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for Righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.”   For “You were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.                           1 Peter 2:24-25

 

The Christ, the SPOTLESS Lamb of the Living God, the One who knew NO SIN, became SIN in order that WE might DIE TO SIN and LIVE FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS.  His death on the cross was for ALL mankind to be set FREE from their bondage to sin, and to be able to LIVE for RIGHTEOUSNESS.  This is something that mankind COULD NOT do of their OWN volition.  They were unable to make themselves FREE from their sins and provide a RIGHT RELATIONSHP with the ALMIGHTY GOD.  A SAVIOR is NEEDED to carry out both acts of SALVATION.

 

“By His wounds you have been healed.”   This does NOT refer to PHYSICAL healing, but to a SPIRITUAL healing, for a poor, SIN-SICK world.  The WOUNDS that was inflicted upon our Lord, refers to the SCOURGING, or BEATING that He received, a beating that was so bloody and brutal, that many who received it, did NOT survive it.   A beating that was meant for YOU and ME, but Christ took our place.  It was a part of the “shedding of blood” from the SPOTLESS LAMB, which was one of the most important parts of the SALVATION process, for “without the shedding of blood there is NO forgiveness.”  (Heb. 9:22)   The HEALING is the FINAL part of the process.  Notice that the word is HEALED, which is past tense, which means that it has already happened and is COMPLETED.  SALVATION is already a done deal.

 

The miracle of SALVATION, has been PROVIDED for ALL who will ACCEPT it.   When we ACCEPT it, we will experience the SPIRITUAL HEALING for our SIN-SICK SOUL.  And then we will reap its benefits.  We like sheep, who go astray, can be brought to the GOOD SHEPHERD and OVERSEER of our souls.  GOOD SHEPHERD indicates GUIDANCE and OVERSEER indicates PROTECTION.  So when we come to God for the SALVATION of our souls, we can experience His GUIDANCE and PROTECTION through the leadership of His Holy Spirit, because of the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.   Are you DYING to sin and LIVING for righteousness?  Do you have the HOPE for an ETERNITY in Heaven?

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are in a SIN-SICK condition, with NO HOPE of an ETERNITY in Heaven, unless you TURN AWAY FROM your sins and TURN TO God, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus DIED for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and DIE to SIN and LIVE for RIGHTEOUSNESS.   Do it NOW while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
