“The Grieved Heart”

 

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of mankind was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of their heart was only evil continually.  And the LORD was sorry that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was grieved in His Heart.       Genesis 6:5-6

 

In verse three of this chapter, we are told that the LORD said; “My Spirit shall NOT ALWAYS strive with mankind.” Meaning that after some period of time God would remove His Spirit from STRIVING in CALLING people to REPENTANCE and RIGHTEOUSNESS under the preaching of Enoch and Noah.  However, they were given a span of one hundred-twenty years to RESPOND to the CALL, which was the number of years until the GREAT FLOOD.  Mankind, THEN and NOW, have been given AMPLE opportunity to RESPOND to the GOSPEL MESSAGE.  The WARNING still stands:  GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT will NOT always STRIVE with MANKIND.  This could be YOUR last opportunity!

 

Our focus verse, though, tells us that GOD saw that the WICKEDNESS of MANKIND was GREAT in the earth, and that EVERY intent of the thoughts of their HEART was EVIL CONTINUALLY.  I wonder what the LORD GOD must think about the SPIRITUAL CONDITION of the EARTH, today. And the ATTITUDES of mankind towards that condition.  It MUST be a WRETCHED, HORRID STENCH in His Nostrils.  Verse six tells us that the LORD was SORRY that He had made MANKIND, and that He was GRIEVED in His HEART.  How BAD the SIN must have been to EVOKE such a feeling for the ALMIGHTY, COMPASSIONATE, MERCIFUL, GRACIOUS GOD.  And how BAD the SIN is TODAY, with ALL the CORRUPTION, WICKEDNESS, DECEPTION, GREED, and HATRED, which for many are their NORMAL ways of living.

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to GOD, and you are LIVING in DISOBEDIENCE, REBELLION, and maybe even PROCRASTINATION, in COMING to Him, to be FORGIVEN, through His SON, JESUS CHRIST, who BLED and DIED for YOUR FORGIVENESS, then you are facing an ETERNITY in HELL, with ALL its HORRORS, and NO WAY to ESCAPE, after you are there.  REMEMBER, GOD’S SPIRIT will NOT ALWAYS STRIVE with MANKIND, and NOW is YOUR WARNING. The time is QUICKLY COMING when your opportunity will not be presented to you again.  You MUST NOT DELAY:  YOU MUST be WILLING to TURN AWAY FROM your sinful life-style, and TURN TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  CONFESS your sins to Him, and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that JESUS CHRIST, died for YOU, and that He is ALIVE, in HEAVEN, making intercession for you, before God.  You MUST ACCEPT His Gift of SALVATION, and DON’T GRIEVE GOD’S HEART, but bring JOY to His HEART, by ACCEPTING an ETERNITY in HEAVEN, with ALL its BLESSINGS.  So, do this NOW, while you still can.  It MIGHT BE your LAST OPPORTUNITY.  He’s WAITING and COMING SOON!!!
