“The Spring of Living Water”

 

“My People have committed two sins:  They have forsaken Me, the Spring of Living Water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”     Jeremiah 2:13

 

Israel’s two sins are:  First, they ABANDONED GOD, their Spring of Living Water, and chose to worship FALSE IDOLS.  In this verse of Scripture, God gave the Prophet Jeremiah, this scenario, using the metaphors of springs of living water, and cisterns that were manmade and UNRELIABLE.  The SPRING of LIVING WATER represented God, and the CISTERNS represented the USELESS, UNRELIABLE FALSE GODS. 

 

Israel possessed NATURAL SPRINGS, which were REFRESHING, RELIABLE SOURCES of WATER.  However, these CISTERNS were pits that had been dug into the rock and covered with plaster.  They were used to collect rainwater which was BRACKISH, UNPLEASANT and DISTASTEFUL. Not only that, they were very UNRELIABLE, because they were CRACKED, and could NOT HOLD the WATER.  And this was the SECOND SIN, they TURNED AWAY FROM GOD, the SPRING of LIVING WATER.  The ONE they could DEPEND ON, their LIFE-GIVING SOURCE. 

 

This SCENARIO is what many are living today. All over the world, many are TURNING AWAY FROM GOD and His LIVING WATER, and they are REPLACING Him with THINGS that are UNRELIABLE, and FALLIBLE when it comes to giving what is NEEDED to obtain ETERNAL LIFE, which is made possible, ONLY through the RELIABLE, LIFE-GIVING WATER, which is JESUS CHRIST, GOD’S ONLY SON, who suffered, bled and DIED in OUR place, so that we MIGHT have ETERNAL LIFE in HEAVEN. Sometimes, things are NOT what they FIRST appear to be.  So, don’t RISK your ETERNITY in HEAVEN, by TURNING AWAY FROM GOD and His SON, who is the LIVING WATER, and TURNING TO something that is NOT going to PROVIDE you with an ETERNITY in HEAVEN, but will give you an ETERNITY in HELL, with ALL its HORRORS, and NO WAY to ESCAPE, after you are there.

 

In order for you to RECEIVE an ETERNAL LIFE in HEAVEN, you MUST COME to this SPRING of LIVING WATER, (God) with a WILLINGNESS to TURN AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle and TURN TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  And CONFESS your sins to Him, and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  And BELIEVE, with ALL your HEART, that JESUS died for YOU, and that He is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God.  You MUST ACCEPT His Gift of SALVATION, and let Him be your SOURCE of LIVING WATER, providing you with an ETERNAL LIFE in HEAVEN, with ALL its BLESSINGS.  So, do this NOW, while you still can.  He’s WAITING and COMING SOON!!!
