“The Acknowledgement of the King”

 

When He came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:  “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!”  “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”  “I tell you, He replied, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”       Luke 19:37-40

 

There was quite a crowd of followers or disciples, of Jesus who followed Him on His descent into Jerusalem, for the FINAL week of His life and ministry on this earth.  I would suppose many of them had followed Him as He went from place to place, in His ministry.  They were mesmerized by all the miracles He performed.  And had come to the conclusion that He WAS a King. 

 

Now, I wonder how many of them who PROCLAIMED Him to be KING, had a change of heart, and changed their PROCLAMATION of:  “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!”,  to, “CRUCIFY HIM!”  CRUCIFY HIM!”?  How much difference a week makes!

 

And when the Pharisees in the crowd heard the PRAISES to the KING, they said to Jesus,  “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”  They KNEW what His followers were PROCLAIMING, and it did NOT set well with them.  So they demanded that Jesus would SILENCE their PRAISE and PROCLAMATION.

 

But Jesus came back with quite a STUNNING reply.  He said, “If they keep quiet, the STONES will cry out.”  In other words, what they were PROCLAIMING was EXACTLY what the Almighty God desired, which was that His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON be ACKNOWLEDGED as the KING, and NOT just the King, but the KING of KINGS, even if it took the STONES crying out the PROCLAMATION.

 

ALL of history has pointed toward this ONE, AWESOME EVENT, when the TRUE MESSIAH would PUBLICLY present Himself to Israel and the world.  

 

But Satan had his plans too, and was busy during that week, working in the hearts of the people who ONCE PRAISED AND PROCLAIMED the King, then by the week’s end they were SHOUTING and RAILING, “CRUCIFY HIM!” “CRUCIFY HIM!”   Where do you stand?  Do you ACKNOWLEDGE Jesus as your KING, or are you letting SATAN influence your beliefs?

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, and ACKNOWLEDGED His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, the Lord Jesus Christ as the King, then you are being influenced by Satan and are headed for an ETERNITY in Hell, the place of FOREVER torment, torture, pain, agony, heartache, and despair.   However, God is giving you the opportunity NOW, to come to Him with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him, and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and ACKNOWLEDGE Jesus as your KING.  Do it NOW while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
