“The Light that Shines Out of the Darkness”

 

It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining.   And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.  Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.   When He had said this, He breathed His last.        Luke 23:44-46

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.        2 Corinthians 4:6

 

Jesus had been hanging on the cross for quite some time, weak physically from loss of blood, and lack of oxygen.  Darkness had covered the WHOLE land, the sun stopped shining, because DEATH was approaching.  This must have brought relief to Satan, the prince of darkness, at last he had EXSTINGUISHED the LIGHT, or at least, that’s what he thought.  But SUNDAY is COMING!!

 

Jesus had already told those who arrested Him, “This is your hour---when DARKNESS reigns.” Darkness was reigning because of His death by crucifixion.  But SUNDAY is COMING!!

 

The curtain that separated the holy of holies from the rest of the temple was torn in two.  This curtain kept people from the place where the presence of God dwelt.  The tearing of the curtain from top to bottom signified that because of Jesus Christ’s death, people had freer access to God, and they no longer had to go through the sacrificial ritual, because Jesus was the ONLY SACRIFICE NEEDED to obtain a proper relationship with the Almighty God.

 

When Jesus called out in a LOUD voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”  Indicated that Jesus Christ gave up His life WILLINGLY, at the exact time He deemed, not by the hands of anyone else.  He was in CONTROL.  The Scripture goes on to say, “When He had said this, He breathed His last.”  How Satan must have danced, believing he had won!  But SUNDAY is COMING!!

 

 What the devil didn’t realize was, in that DARK period of time, the LIGHT was PIERCING the DARKNESS.  For God said, “Let LIGHT shine out of DARKNESS,” and it truly did, He made His LIGHT shine in our HEARTS to give us the LIGHT of the KNOWLEDGE of God’s glory displayed in the FACE of CHRIST.  Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was NOT the EXSTINGUISHING of the LIGHT, but the ILLUMINATION of mankind’s relationship with Almighty God, brought to us by Christ, the LIGHT of the World.  

 

Has His LIGHT pierced your DARKNESS?  If NOT, you are headed for Hell, for ALL ETERNITY, with NO WAY of ESCAPING.  In order to ESCAPE the DARKNESS and HELL, you must come to God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, AND let your LIGHT shine in the DARKNESS of this LOST and DYING world.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON
