“God:  The Son”

 

No one has ever seen God, but the One and Only Son, who is Himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made Him known.   John 1:18

Jesus answered:  “Don’t you know Me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time?   Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.   How can you say, ’Show us the Father’?  Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in Me?  The words I say to you I do not speak on My own authority.   Rather, it is the Father, living in Me, who is doing His work.   Believe Me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.      John 14:9-11

 

So the question is:  “Has anyone seen God?”  Philip wanted to be able to SEE with his own eyes the image of God, and he isn’t the only one.  Down through the ages many have wanted the same thing.  In verse eighteen of chapter one, John tells us that; “No one has ever seen God,” God in His being is INVISIBLE, because He is in SPIRIT form.  But what this scripture is telling us, is that No one has seen God’s essential nature. God’s inner nature is brought into view in Jesus Christ.

 

Jesus is God in the flesh.  God became man and dwelt among men.  Therefore, in our scripture in John, chapter fourteen, verses nine through eleven, Jesus says to Philip, “Don’t you know Me?”  Anyone who has seen Me, has seen the Father.”  Because He is in the Father and the Father is in Him.   He tells Philip, “BELIEVE ME when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me.”  “Or else BELIEVE on the evidence of the WORKS themselves.”   Those who have seen Jesus, have seen God.  They are ONE, yet they are separate entities.  It is a little HARD to understand the TRINITY.  God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit. It’s a little like an egg, three parts in one.  You have the shell, the white and the yolk, three separate parts yet it is ONE egg. 

 

I think the important lesson, here is to BELIEVE that Jesus is every bit as much God as He is man.  And the essential nature of God is revealed through Jesus, His SON.  Do you BELIEVE in GOD, the Father, God, the Son, and God the Holy Spirit?  It’s the ONLY way to get to Heaven.  If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are on your way to an ETERNITY in Hell, with ALL its HORRORS.  In order to have an ETERNITY in Heaven, you MUST TURN AWAY FROM your sinful life, and TURN TO God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  Then CONFESS your sins to Him and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God.  Then you MUST ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and BELIEVE in God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit, and spend ALL ETERNITY in Heaven.   Do this NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
