“The Seal of Approval”

 

“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.  For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.”

Then they asked Him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this:  to believe in the One He has sent.”                           John 6:27-29

 

Jesus was not promoting laziness, but encouraging the crowd to not put all their energy in working for food that SPOILS, which is PHYSICAL FOOD, which will SPOIL and ROT AWAY.  But they should WORK DILIGENTLY on what will LAST, which is SPIRITUAL FOOD.  We all know that the BODY needs nourishment in order to FUNCTION, and so does Jesus.  He KNOWS BETTER than we do.  The fact is that this body will not last, at least not here on earth.  But the SPIRITUAL FOOD will give ETERNAL LIFE to our SOULS.  It is that, which the Son of Man, Jesus Christ, will give us through His DEATH and RESURRECTION. 

 

He can do that because God has placed His SEAL of APPROVAL on Him.  This SEAL of APPROVAL, might be the HOLY SPIRIT of the LIVING GOD.  When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form like a dove.  And a voice came from heaven:  “You are My Son, whom I love; with You I am well PLEASED.” (Luke 3:22)  That sounds pretty much like a SEAL of APPROVAL to me. 

 

So the crowd asked Him, “What must we do to do the WORKS God requires?” These people’s thinking was that they must do GOOD WORKS to acquire SALVATION.  There is NO ONE who can receive SALVATION through doing GOOD WORKS.  Ephesians 2:8, 9, tells us:  “For it is by GRACE you have been SAVED, through FAITH--- and this is NOT from yourselves, it is the gift of GOD---NOT BY WORKS, so that NO ONE can boast.”   There is ONLY one thing that God REQUIRES that is for them to BELIEVE in the ONE He has sent, which is the LORD JESUS CHRIST. 

 

Do you have GOD’S SEAL of APPROVAL on YOU?  Have you given your HEART and LIFE to God for the SALVATION of your SOUL?  Do you BELIEVE in the ONE He has sent, in order to PROVIDE you with the SPIRITUAL FOOD that your soul is starving for, the FOOD that will bring you ETERNAL LIFE?  If you answer is NO, then you are SPIRITUALLY MALNOURISHED, and will die a SPIRITUAL DEATH, and you will spend ALL of ETERNITY in HELL, with ALL of its HORRORS and NO WAY of ESCAPE.  You MUST do the FOLLOWING if you want GOD’S SEAL OF APPROVAL, and an ETERNITY in HEAVEN with ALL its BLESSINGS.   You must TURN AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle, and you MUST TURN TO God, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  Then you MUST CONFESS your sins to Him, and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  You MUST BELIEVE, with ALL your HEART that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God.  Then you MUST ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and RECEIVE His SEAL of APPROVAL.  Do this NOW, while you still can.   He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
