“The Instrument of Wickedness or the Instrument of Righteousness?”

 

 

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.  Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to Him as an instrument of righteousness.       Romans 6:12-13

 

In this part of the Apostle Paul’s letter, to the believers in Rome, he is encouraging them to NOT let sin CONTROL their MORTAL bodies, so that they are OBEDIENT to its evil desires.  In their OLD life, sin reigned or controlled their MORTAL bodies.  Paul’s phrase; “mortal body” indicates the fact that they were allowing sin to REIGN or CONTROL a dying, decaying body, which would cause them to obey its evil desires.  Why would they want to be CONTROLLED by a sinful, dying, decaying body?

 

He goes on to say; “Do NOT offer ANY part of yourself to sin, as an INSTRUMENT of WICKEDNESS.”  In other words, GET RID of the SIN in your life, and don’t LET it use ANY PART of you as an INSTRUMENT of WICKEDNESS, BUT instead, OFFER yourself to God, and act as those who have been brought from spiritual death to SPIRITUAL LIFE.  The difference is: Spiritual death means spending ALL of ETERNITY in Hell, the place of spiritual torment without any relief.   SPIRITUAL LIFE is spending ALL of ETERNITY in Heaven, the place of ETERNAL peace, joy, love and bliss that is beyond belief.

 

Paul is encouraging the believers to offer EVERY part of themselves to the Almighty God as an INSTRUMENT of RIGHTEOUSNESS.  He implores them to let go of their past sins and to PRESS ON toward their NEW life in Christ Jesus.  To be OBEDIENT to the Holy Spirit, and allow God’s Spirit to use them as INSTRUMENTS of RIGHTEOUSNESS, which will bring them into HOLINESS, and allow them to reap the benefits of SPIRITUAL LIFE, instead of spiritual death.

 

So which are you?  An INSTRUMENT of WICKEDNESS or an INSTRUMENT of RIGHTEOUSNESS?  If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are allowing sin to reign in your life and are being used as an INSTRUMENT of WICKEDNESS, and obeying sins evil desires.  However, you NOW have the opportunity to come to God with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and become His INSTRUMENT of RIGHTEOUSNESS, and receive His gift of SPIRITUAL LIFE in Heaven for ALL ETERNITY.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
