“The Old Covenant versus The New
Covenant”
Therefore,
when Christ came into the world, He said:
“Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for
Me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings You were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am---it is written about
Me in the scroll---I have come to do Your will, My God.’ ” First He said, “Sacrifices
and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings You did not desire nor were
You pleased with them”---though they were offered in accordance with the
law. Then He said, “Here I am, I have
come to do Your will.” He sets aside the
first to establish the second. And by
that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus
Christ once for all. Hebrews
10:5-10
God saw that
the Old Covenant with all of its sacrifices and offerings was not accomplishing
what it was meant to do for the purpose of the SALVATION of mankind. They were bringing their burnt offerings and
sin offerings, but their sins were still a stench in the nostrils of Almighty
God. The words of Jesus tells us that
God was NOT pleased with those sacrifices.
There had to be a more PERFECT sacrifice for the REDEMPTION of mankind. Thus Jesus Christ steps up and said; ‘Here I
am---it is written about Me in the scroll---I have come to do Your will, My God.’ Jesus offered Himself to be the PERFECT
sacrifice, in order to do the PERFECT will of His Heavenly Father.
“Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and
sin offerings You did not desire nor were You pleased with them”----though they
were offered in accordance with the law.
Then He said, “Here I am, I have come to do Your will.” The author of Hebrews expounds the words that
he had just quoted, maybe to stress the point that the Old Covenant was NOT producing
the results that were needed to please God.
He then adds: He sets aside the first to establish the
second, meaning that the Old Covenant sacrifices were set aside because they did NOT satisfy
God, and thus was replaced with the New Covenant, being the broken body, and
the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, which was PLEASING to God for the
REDEMPTION of mankind.
God’s will
was established, through the New Covenant, and through that will we have been
made holy through the PERFECT sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, ONCE for
ALL. The SALVATION of mankind was
completed through the SACRIFICE of Jesus Christ, and NOTHING more needs to be
done, it is a ONCE for ALL sacrifice.
Christ does not have to be put to death over and over again. ‘IT IS FINISHED!”
Now the work
of Jesus Christ is complete. However it
is up to mankind, INDIVIDUALLY and PERSONALLY to RECEIVE the gift of SALVATION. If you have not come to God with a TRULY
REPENTANT HEART for the SALVATION of your soul, you can do it NOW by: CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him
for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU,
and is ALIVE in HEAVEN, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT
His gift of SALVATION, and be made holy through the PERFECT sacrifice of the body
of Jesus Christ ONCE for ALL. Do it NOW,
while you still can. He’s waiting and
coming SOON!!!
