The Better Sacrifice

 

 

For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow, sprinkling those who are defiled, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of the Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve the living God?--------Hebrews 9:13-14

 

 

The writer of the Book of Hebrews, whom I believe to be the Apostle Paul, gives us a fairly concise look at the purposes and differences in the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.  The Old Covenant ministry was administered by the High Priest alone.  He enters the most holy place with the blood of goats and bulls, which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people that have been committed in ignorance.   This takes place ONCE a year.

 

The New Covenant ministry was carried out by God’s ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Who, through the eternal Spirit, offered Himself without blemish to God for the redemption of mankind ONCE AND FOR ALL.  Not to be put to death multiple times for the cleansing of mankind’s soul, but a ONCE AND FOR ALL time. 

 

If the blood of animals could be an appropriate sacrifice for the sanctifying of the purification process of the flesh, how much MORE will the PRECIOUS blood of the SPOTLESS, RISEN LAMB, Jesus Christ, cleanse our consciences from ‘dead works,’ those things that people try to do to escape going through the blood of Christ, to gain SALVATION for their sin-ridden souls, to NO avail.  The ONLY way is through the blood of Jesus.  Hebrews 9:22 says, “…and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”  You can’t work your way, pay your way, or talk your way into SALVATION.  You must come by way of the cross, through the shed blood of our BLESSED REDEEMER. 

 

Jesus Christ is the BEST and ONLY way to gain FORGIVENESS and an eternal inheritance from the Almighty God.  He provided the PERFECT SACRIFICE, but you MUST come through His blood to be cleansed and made righteous before God.

 

If you have not given your HEART and LIFE to God, if you have not been to the cross for the cleansing of your sins with the precious shed blood of Jesus Christ, then you have not received God’s gift of SALVATION.  But you can come to the cross and be cleansed by the blood of Christ, NOW by; CONFESSING your sins to God and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus shed His blood and died for YOU and is ALIVE, in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION and your eternal inheritance.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s waiting!!!
