Wake Up! Our Salvation is Nearer than You Think

 

 

Besides this, knowing the time, it is already the hour for you to wake up from sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.  The night is nearly over, and the daylight is near, so let us discard the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.  Let us walk with decency, as in the daylight: not in carousing and drunkenness; not in sexual impurity and promiscuity; not in quarreling and jealousy.  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no plans to satisfy the fleshly desires.---------Romans 13:11-14

 

 

I truly believe that our SALVATION is nearer than when we FIRST believed.  The time when Christ will return to gather up God’s Children, known to the Christians as the RAPTURE. From the day we were SAVED from our sins to today, we are getting closer to His return and to the climax of our SALVATION.

The ‘daylight,’ the Apostle Paul was talking about represents a ‘New day’, which is the time from Christ’s return to the climax of our SALVATION.

 

The ‘night’ represents the present time while Christ is not here and Satan is running rampant.  Since the ‘daylight’ is almost here, Paul urges his readers to put off the deeds of darkness and to put on the armor of light.  We, God’s Children, are in a battle and we NEED to be ALERT and EQUIPPED for the conflict.  We need to ‘walk’ or live a life of decency, because we don’t know the EXACT time of Christ’s return. 

 

It is important that the Child of God does NOT participate in the ‘deeds of darkness,’ those acts of indecency that Paul listed and is associated with darkness.  And the holy and righteous life of a Child of God is what is known as ‘living in the light.’ So the Child of God is urged to NOT participate in the ‘deeds of darkness,’ but to LIVE a life that is conducive to the ‘light.’ 

 

A Child of God is to strive to live a holy and righteous life in view of Christ’s return.  And we can do this by clothing ourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, allowing His Holy Spirit to be in control of our every being.  That is to NOT even think about ways or plans to satisfy the fleshly desires.  He is COMING SOON! How will He find you?  Practicing the ‘deeds of darkness’?

Or living in the ‘light’?  If you have not given your HEART and LIFE to God then you are practicing the ‘deeds of darkness’, and you are not a Child of God, therefore you cannot live in the ‘light’ until you come to God, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION and come into the ‘LIGHT’ and be found living a holy and righteous life at Christ’s return.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s waiting!!!
