"God, the Great Warrior!"

“God, the Great Warrior!”

 

 

He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on His head; He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and wrapped Himself in zeal as a cloak.  According to their deeds, so will He repay, wrath to His adversaries, repayment to His enemies; to the coastlands He will render repayment.          Isaiah 59:17-18

 

It’s an odd thing, I don’t remember, hearing God described as a WARRIOR dressed for battle, until He led me to this portion of Scripture.  This portion of Scripture are words that God gave His Prophet Isaiah for the nation of Israel, and is very much applicable to ALL BELIEVERS, today.

 

Isaiah is giving the nation of Israel and us a picture of God as a GREAT WARRIOR, who is ready to go forth and fight for His people.  The description of His garments for battle starts with a breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS, and a helmet of SALVATION.  These are also some of the items that were mentioned by the Apostle Paul in the book of Ephesians 6:14, 17, which we know to be the whole ARMOR of God. 

 

God also puts on the garments of VENGEANCE and ZEAL.  And thus is READY for battle.  He zealously fights with vengeance on His enemies, which will end at the end of time as we know it.  He will fight with such VENGEANCE and ZEAL that people everywhere will know of His glory and strength.

 

The Almighty God who is RIGHTEOUSNESS and SALVATION exemplifies these godly attributes as His Holy ARMOR.  He brings RIGHTEOUSNESS and SALVATION to those who have repented of their sins, Jews and Gentiles, alike, and we too are encouraged to fight the battle of REDEMPTION of mankind’s soul, by putting on the FULL ARMOR of GOD (Eph. 6:14-17). 

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are fighting a battle of your own, a LOSING battle with NO armor.  And you are vulnerable to being killed on the battlefield of sin, with an eternity in Hell, a place of torment, torture, pain, agony, and despair.  But God, the GREAT WARRIOR, is giving you the opportunity NOW, to join His VICTORIOUS ARMY of TRUE BELIEVERS.  You can join by: Coming to Him with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART, CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION and RIGHTEOUSNESS, and become one of His VICTORIOUS WARRIORS.  Do it NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
