Refined Like Silver, Purified Like Gold

 

 

I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure.  I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold.  They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘These are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’--------Zechariah 13:9

 

 

This is a message that was delivered to the people of Jerusalem, by the prophet Zechariah. But I believe that it is very applicable to the Children of God today. 

 

Many of God’s Children have had to face adversities and our faith in Him has been tested.  We have been through the fire of adversities and have been refined like silver and purified like gold.  Our faith has been tested and those who have TRULY been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ have come through the fire unscathed and refined and purified.  But those who have not TRULY been redeemed, but are only living under their own power and are faking it.  Their so called-faith will not withstand the test of refinement and purification.  And they will be rejected unless they TRULY turn to God for their SALVATION.

 

Living a Christian life is not a wimpy lifestyle.  As God’s Children, we are put to the test quite often, and the test for refinement and purification is to make us PURE and to STRENGTHEN our faith.  So that we might be able to live a godly life and bring honor, glory and praise to the one who has brought us through the fire and is preparing us for the Kingdom of God.

 

In this verse, we are told that when the TRUE people of God call on His name, He will answer them.  What wonderful assurance that is to know that being a Child of God gives us entry into the very throne room of God, with our prayers and that He will answer us.  It may not be the answer that we want, but it will be the answer that He knows is the best one for us.  So we get a lesson on TRUST.  We learn to trust in the one who is in control and will determine how hot the fire to refine and purify us, needs to be.   But nonetheless, we will come out of the fire refined and purified to His liking.  And then He will call us ‘His people’ and we can call Him ‘our Lord God,’ and our TRUE identity will be made known. 

 

If you have never given your HEART and LIFE to Jesus, then you are NOT His Child and you will one day be put into a fire that you cannot get out of,  you will  not go THROUGH  that fire, but you will remain in that fire for ALL eternity.  The flames will never die, you will suffer with no relief.  Unless you turn FROM your sins and turn TO God.  You do this by: CONFESSING your sins to Him and asking Him for His FORGIVENESS, BELIEVING, with ALL your HEART that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you before God, then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION.  Do it NOW, while you STILL can.  He’s waiting!!!
