“The Called, the Sanctified”

 

May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through.  May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.       1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

 

The Apostle Paul was speaking to the Christians in Thessalonica, concerning their responsibilities as God’s Children.  He ends His comments with two blessings   The first blessing is that God HIMSELF, the God of PEACE would SANCTIFY them.  This word ‘SANCTIFY’ means to be SET APART for God’s own purposes.  This SANCTIFICATION would be THOROUGH, meaning it would be THROUGH and THROUGH EVERY part of the individual. However, this does NOT mean they would attain COMPLETE SANCTIFICATION this side of Heaven. That is NOT POSSIBLE.

 

His second blessing is that their WHOLE spirit, soul and body be KEPT BLAMELESS at the Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Paul was asking that God would KEEP the Thessalonian Believers BLAMELESS in their personal relationship with Him and with other people as well.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that our WALK matches our TALK. 

 

God, the One who calls a Christian, will do this by the work of the HOLY SPIRIT, who indwells the TRUE BELIEVER at the time of conversion.  God is FAITHFUL to COMPLETE the work that He has begun in the BELIEVER.  He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion until the Day of Christ Jesus.  (Phil. 1:6). 

 

God does NOT save you by grace, and then leave you on your own, to figure out your own calling.  God not only brings His SALVATION and JUSTIFICATION, by grace.  But He SANCTIFIES by grace those, whom He has CALLED.  Has God been CALLING YOU to SALVATION and JUSTIFICATION?  And are you REJECTING His CALL?

 

If you have NOT given your HEART and LIFE to God, then you are REJECTING His CALLING to SALVATION.  And you are RISKING spending your ETERNITY in HELL, with ALL its HORRORS, and NO WAY to ESCAPE.  However, God is giving you the opportunity NOW to ACCEPT His CALL of SALVATION by:  TURNING AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle and TURNING TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  Then BELIEVE, with ALL your HEART, that Jesus died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God.  Then CONFESS your sins to Him and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  You then, MUST ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION and JUSTIFICATION, and be SANCTIFIED for His purposes.  And let Him KEEP you BLAMELESS at the Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Do this NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
