“What Do You Do with the Word of God?”

 

How can a young person stay on the path of purity?  By living according to Your Word.  I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands.  I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You.  I delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect Your Word.        Psalm 119:9-11,16

 

We live in a very WICKED and PERVERTED world at least that is for the TRUE BELIEVERS of the Lord Jesus Christ.  And we have a few things that we can rely on to HELP us cope in such a sinful place.  One such thing is the WORD of the Living God.  It offers the path to SALVATION, GUIDANCE for the BELIEVER, PEACE for the troubled soul, and so much more.  God’s Word is SUFFICIENT for EVERY situation.  So the question is:  “What Do YOU Do with the Word of God?”

 

Our Psalmist, tells us that YOUNG PEOPLE can stay on the PATH of PURITY by: LIVING according to God’s Word.   That is a good example of the GUIDANCE that comes from the Word of God.  By READING, STUDYING, and APPLYING it to one’s life, they can GROW and have a RIGHTEOUS RELATIONSHIP with HOLY, RIGHTEOUS GOD. 

 

The next thing that we can DO with the Word of God is to SEEK GOD in His Holy Word and gain KNOWLEDGE of Him and His NATURE, LOVE and FORGIVENESS.  It tells us how to live, in order to PLEASE GOD, and what we should do when we are DISOBEDIENT to Him and His Word. 

 

We are told that the Psalmist also has HIDDEN God’s Word in his HEART, so that he might NOT SIN against God.  Meaning that he has KEPT or TREASURED God’s Word in his HEART, and when TEMPTED to SIN against God, he can remember what God’s Word says and act appropriately. 

 

The Psalmist also tells us that he DELIGHTS in God’s DECREES.  A DECREE is a special order, and the Psalmist knew that in order to PLEASE God, he MUST be willing to LIVE according to God’s DECREES.  So he was willing to DELIGHT or have GREAT PLEASURE, himself in God’s DECREES.  And so doing, he would NOT NEGLECT God’s Word, but would KNOW exactly what PLEASES God, because of his LOVE and DESIRE to be OBEDIENT to God’s Word. 

 

Are you OBEDIENT to God’s Word?  His Word tells us that in order for us to spend ALL ETERNITY in Heaven, YOU MUST TURN AWAY FROM your sinful lifestyle, and TURN TO GOD, with a TRUE REPENTANT HEART.  Then BELIEVE with ALL your HEART that, Jesus Christ, God’s Only Son, died for YOU, and is ALIVE in Heaven, making intercession for you, before God.  Then you MUST CONFESS your sins to Him and ask Him for His FORGIVENESS.  Then ACCEPT His gift of SALVATION, and SEEK His Word, HIDE His Word, and DELIGHT in His Word.  So that you might be PLEASING to Him.   Do this NOW, while you still can.  He’s waiting and coming SOON!!!
